As the spring sun breaks the cold winter slumber, the earth below awakens.
The world above, once banished to the hard, clean paths of stone, begins to break their trails and create new paths.
Boots give way to shoes, then sandals, then the bare skin of feet. After a winter of little activity, there are now feet everywhere.
The scorching sun tries to burn everything it touches, but it only fuels the activities both below and above.
Blankets, baskets, and food. Water, tents, and music. People.
When the yellow carriages appear, the activity begins to fade. Bare feet transition back to shoes, and soon to boots.
Another summer has passed. Preparations for winter must begin.
